Women w/disAbilities Seminar

Last Thursday 9 women met in SLO at the United Church of Christ at a Seminar/Discussion/Support group sponsored by CDR chapter 22. The group met to discuss issues and to get to know each other. The common denominator was Susan Chandler who had organized the event, she had met or known each of the women and wanted to get them together and to get them to share their stories and information. The items most discussed were health care issues such as access to equipment and offices, Doctor's attitudes toward people with disAbilities, the best doctors; lack of information about disability resources; and other people's attitudes toward people with disAbilities.


Everyone agreed that a monthly meeting would be best. However because of the holidays, the next meeting is planned for a Saturday pot luck, January 8th from 10 to 2. The place is still to be determined. We want to find an accessible place that does not charge; can accommodate a number of wheelchairs; and is easily accessible to public transportation. Welcome From CDR Chapter 22

Chapter 22 (formerly C.A.P.H. Chapter 15)  goes from Paso Robles to Carpenteria but folks come mainly from Paso thru Santa Maria.  Members are focused on access to the environment and programs as well as serving as a resource for people.
